Mother Mary VeronicaFOUNDER OF THE APOSTOLIC CARMEL (1823 - 1906)The seed of the Apostolic Carmel was sown in the heart of this woman who realized the greatness of the Mission. She came to India in 1861,and worked with zeal and enthusiasm, especially in the field of education. At present our educational institutions have spread over the length and breadth of India and Sri Lanka reaching even to Pakistan, Kuwait, Kenya, Rome and Bahrain. The work begun by Mother Veronica rooted in the contemplative spirit of Carmel is kept alive in the active Apostolate of Education. Hers was a pedagogy of love giving each child the taste of going beyond self and making a reality of the dream which God has for each one of His children. |
